Chuck Mohler is a fourteen year veteran of Ocean Communications and Olympusat and has been a part of the leadership team responsible for the growth of the companies, focusing on execution of key initiatives for distribution and communications solutions for Olympusat’s networks as well as Ocean’s client networks. He currently runs Ocean Communications, the company’s transactional network distribution division and has led the successful integration of Ocean’s distribution expertise with Olympusat’s technical capabilities, adding another dimension of client solutions for the company.
He is a founding member of the leadership team launching the company’s latest venture, Olympusat Telecom, an end-to-end terrestrial communications provider with state-of-the-art, cost-effective solutions for streaming, bandwidth and communications needs. Chuck joined the company in 1998 and became a member of the Board of Directors for Olympusat in 2000. Prior to that Chuck worked for U.S. Representative John Boehner (OH-8), both in Ohio and on Capitol Hill
Chris Williams is the Chief Financial Officer for Olympusat. With almost 20 years of experience, Chris joined Olympusat from the Financial Planning and Analysis group of Rayonier. While working for this publicly traded forest products company he primarily focused on quarterly earnings releases, Board of Directors reporting, and SEC reporting.
Prior to that he held Controller positions with Roush Racing, a multi-team NASCAR racing organization, and Healthlink, a healthcare IT consulting firm. During his tenure at Healthlink, the company experienced rapid internal growth fueled by a venture capital raise and a significant strategic merger, later leading to the acquisition of the company by IBM. Chris began his career as a Financial Analyst with Bank of America. He maintains an active CPA license and holds a B.S. degree from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Florida State University.
As EVP and General Counsel, Colleen heads up the legal department for Olympusat Holdings. Prior to this, Colleen spearheaded Olympusat’s distribution efforts for the Spanish-language networks, Faith & Families and Digital services.
Prior to her time with Olympusat, Colleen was at Lifetime Television as VP of Affiliate Relations and Marketing where she was responsible for negotiating distribution agreements with the industry’s leading cable operators and overseeing the sales, marketing and revenue generation for a 21-state region. Colleen’s prior cable experience includes positions with The Disney Channel as a Senior Account Executive and with the now defunct Noncable Resources as Director of Field Marketing.
With 20 years of experience between the private/public sector and public accounting, Laura is dedicated to delivering results due to the many roles she has held in the past. Prior to joining Olympusat, she was the VP of Finance/Controller for 12 years at The Himmel Group, a marketer of consumer products, where she gained her versatile background overseeing all departments that were involved in the revenue cycle, as well as payroll and human resources. Previously, Laura spent 6 years at Laird Plastics Inc., a distributor of plastic-related materials, as the Accounting Manager/Inventory Accounting Manager. She began her career with Deloitte & Touche, LLP as a Senior Accountant, performing audits in industries such as financial institutions, manufacturing, government, retail, and non-for-profit. Laura graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and has maintained an active CPA license since 1993.
Bob Higley is a television industry veteran with 34 years of experience ranging from directing television programs, managing TV Stations to acquiring distribution for the worlds largest Christian television network in over 100 million homes.
After a tour of duty in the United States Air Force, Bob started working for a television ministry in Detroit Michigan where he was eventually promoted to TV director and produced a nightly live TV program that aired on the independent TV station WGPR with coverage over the fifth largest city in the US.
A few years later Bob accepted a position with Trinity Broadcasting Network to manage one of their full power TV Stations in Indianapolis, Indiana. As station manager of WCLJ Channel 42 Bob continued directing television programs and was responsible for producing two nationally aired shows on TBN. He also negotiated cable distribution deals while in Indiana. He was soon handling the Great Lakes region and eventually was asked by, the president and founder of TBN, to head up the national cable department of TBN and was relocated to TBN’s International Production Center in Dallas, Texas.
As Vice President of Cable Bob and his affiliate sales team grew distribution of TBN from 12 million households to over 100 Million homes carried on over 8,000 cable systems. He successfully negotiated affiliation contracts with the largest cable and satellite corporations in America, including Comcast, DirecTV, Cox, Charter, Dish Network, AT&T Uverse and Verizon FiOS. In addition to TBN’s distribution Bob and his team launched four other networks gaining millions of cable and satellite households including the Church Channel, JCTV (now JUCE), Smile of a Child and Enlace.
Under his leadership he initiated and contracted with Nielsen ratings to begin national overnight ratings coverage of TBN. He also commissioned numerous national research surveys and studies that help establish TBN’s leadership role in faith based television. He oversaw marketing and public relations, giving the network regular media coverage culminating in getting featured on the front covers of the two leading television industry magazines during the networks 40th year anniversary.
In recent years Bob handled international deals including distribution in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. He also began working on distribution in the new frontier of online digital television and negotiated the carriage of the first Christian channel added to America’s popular Roku service, which currently features over 200 faith based channels and thousands of online TV networks.
Bob has a thorough knowledge of the cable and broadcast industry and is keenly aware of the many changes that are on the horizon that will drastically change the way most people view their favorite TV programs. He is making preparations for the dramatic changes coming to television and sees that there are many opportunities available to those media organizations that strategically plan ahead.
Austin Powers is the President of Olympusat Telecom. He began his career in the 80’s selling telecommunications services for global giant, Cable & Wireless. Austin’s success at C&W selling national and global accounts resulted in his recruitment by MCI-Verizon where he spent 10+ years in sales management. He also managed sales teams for Global Crossing and Primus. His record of building and developing sales teams to consistently grow revenues for clients such as Wal-Mart, IBM, Siemens, Citigroup, Coca Cola, Office Depot, Jabil Circuit, Tyco Int’l, and many others has earned him numerous prestigious awards.
During his tenure at Primus Telecommunications, Austin developed and managed one of the largest indirect channel sales partner programs in North America with over 1200 agents and over $300 million in annualized revenues. Austin also focuses on new business development opportunities for Olympusat Holdings and is leading Olympusat Telecom to be the comprehensive communications carrier of the 21st century.
As SVP of Olympusat’s owned and operated channels, Arturo Chavez’ key responsibilities include day-to-day management of the company’s 14 different Hispanic owned and operated networks, which include: Cine Mexicano, ¡Sorpresa!, Gran Cine, Ultra Mex, Ultra Cine, Ultra Clasico, Ultra Movies, Ultra Docu, Ultra Kidz, Ultra Tainment, Ultra Luna, Ultra Macho, Ultra Fiesta, Cine Clasico. He is responsible for overseeing all acquiring content for all the networks.
With over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry. He is widely recognized and considered one of the most knowledgeable experts of Spanish-language films in the U.S. market. Prior to this, he was Director of the Latino Division for Lionsgate where he was responsible for the division’s product development, product management, and release schedule planning. He played an instrumental role in Lionsgate’s assessment, qualification, and acquisition of all product lines and a significant role in the development of the company’s overall Latino category. He is a graduate from University of Aguascalientes in Mexico, and holds a B.A. in Business Development and Administration.
Peter Savov is the Director of Information Technology for Olympusat, Ocean Communications and Olympusat Telecom. He joined Olympusat in 2007 and has played a key role in facilitating the company’s growth. He started his career with the Executive Agency Maritime Administration to Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Republic of Bulgaria. As Senior Surveyor, he created charts and 3D graphics of the waterways to allow passage of large ocean-going vessels.
In the U.S. he has specialized in Network Infrastructure, System Administration, Software and Hardware support. He received his education at Varna Technology University, Bulgaria and later his Computer Science Degree from FMU (Summa Cum Laude). In 1999, he was accepted as a member of MENSA Bulgaria, affiliate of MENSA International.
As VP of Channel Relations, Aurora Bacquerie leads all efforts in establishing and managing network relations, as well as playing a critical role in the development and strategy of Olympusat’s networks and products in the U.S. and Latin America. Aurora has over 16 years of international experience in the areas of business development, strategic planning, international negotiation and construction consulting.
Prior to joining Olympusat, Ms. Bacquerie was employed by Blue Stone Management in where she led the firm in executing its international expansion while engaging property owners, developers and global retailers including Shin Kong Place, Apple, XpresSpa, Paradies, MTR, DFS through Asia-Pacific and the United States. As a Director, she was responsible for developing business opportunities in Asia and the Americas as well as representing the firm as part of volunteer leadership committees in trade associations such as the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Before joining Blue Stone, Ms. Bacquerie worked as a Director for Altus Group Latin America developing business opportunities in valuation, portfolio management and development consulting services throughout Latin America. She served as spokesman and information source for the firm internationally.
John Baghdassarian is a cable industry veteran with over 20 years’ experience in sales, negotiations, new business development and distribution in a multi-platform environment. John has successfully worked for established media companies as well as startups. Prior to Olympusat, John headed up distribution for the eScapes TV Network and led the charge in distributing eScapes TV on domestic and international linear and digital platforms and monetizing the content on nontraditional platforms. John was also a member of the network’s new product, (VOD/HD/IP) strategy and development team. John managed major distributors, including Comcast, Charter Communications, DirecTV, EchoStar, AT&T as well as digital distributors Hulu, Apple TV and Google TV/YouTube. Previously, John worked at youtoo TV the first social TV Network; AMC Networks, including AMC, WE and IFC. Prior to AMC Networks, John had stints working for Showtime Networks, Viacom/Comedy Central as well as Scripps Networks’ Food Network. John received a BA from UCLA, an MBA from Pepperdine University and is an Alumnus of CTAM’s Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.
As Vice President of Technical Operations, Eric is the company’s leading technical liaison between the Olympusat offices in West Palm Beach and uplink facilities in Atlanta, GA. Eric is Olympusat’s main conduit with industry technicians from around the world, and handles all incoming technical inquiries. He also runs the technical support center for Olympusat’s affiliate operators, including offering technical recommendations and handling all crisis management related to technical operations.
Prior to Olympusat, Eric worked for Comcast Communications for 10 years in several areas within head-end operations including Advertising Sales Engineering, Video Production and Field Operations. In addition to critical field experience, Eric’s industry training includes Motorola/General Instruments’ DigiCipher II Uplink Training, ITT Technical Institute; completion of Video Production Training from the National Cable Television Institute and SeaChange International Engineering Training.
As Vice President of Original Productions, Yeshuah drives and delivers physical productions needs for Olympusat’s Original Content. He collaborates with writers, directors and producers to create the highest quality of content, as well as implementing the latest technologies in production workflows. Prior to his new role, Yeshuah was the Director of Business Development at Olympusat, in which he worked with clients such as Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Opera and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. Yeshuah’s previous production experience includes his position at Univision as part of the production team for “Escandalo TV”.
As Vice President of Parables, Isaac Hernandez is responsible for the acquisition of high definition content for the first-ever Christian 24/7 HD movie network in the world. Prior to this, Isaac was a Programming Executive for the Trinity Broadcasting Network, which, according to the FCC, is the world's largest broadcast group. His responsibilities included the acquisition and scheduling of movies for the network as well as overseeing the relationships with filmmakers and motion picture distributors.
For over 25 years, Isaac directed many of the programs produced by The Trinity Broadcasting Network including their live flagship show PRAISE THE LORD. Isaac was also the director for PAXtv's live flagship program GREAT DAY AMERICA, when PAXtv first launched. Isaac has over 30 years of experience in the Christian broadcasting industry.
With over 15 years experience in the Entertainment industry, as VP of Programming & Acquisitions, Maria Luz Zucchella personally handles and oversees the acquisition of all content for Olympusat's owned and operated networks, including the Latino networks in the US, 6 recently launched networks in Middle East and North Africa; and the start-up of 3 new HD networks in Latin America.
In 2005, Maria Luz founded Perro Blanco Films, a Latino Entertainment Consulting company; she Executive Produced over 75 films and secured TV and DVD distribution agreements with major film studios such as Lionsgate. Prior to this, Maria Luz spearheaded the development and launch of Olympusat’s first owned and operated Latino networks in the US: Cine Mexicano (2004); Latele Novela (2005); and Gran Cine (2008); and managed the launch of Murdoch’s Sky Satellite System in Argentina (2001), reaching over 100,000 new subscribers in just one year.
Maria Luz Zucchella graduated with law degree specializing in Telecommunications along with a post-graduate degree in Business Management.
Dean Broadhurst has over 26 years of experience in both the U.S. and Latin American markets. In his role, Broadhurst oversees Programming, Traffic and Master Control for Olympusat. His team is responsible for Olympusat’s 30 linear channels. In addition, Broadhurst is in-charge of content strategy for Olympusat’s SVOD channels on the Youtube service.
Prior to joining Olympusat, Broadhurst was in charge of Program Scheduling for Fox’s Latin American Pay Television service. Broadhurst was the Sr. Director Programming Acquisitions for MTV Networks/Viacom International. In his role he was responsible for negotiating linear, non-linear and mobile rights for Viacom’s youth entertainment channels. Before he began his 15 year stint at Viacom, he held various roles at Turner Broadcasting’s Cable News Network.
Broadhurst has degrees from both the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University.
Fernando Vargas is the General Manager of Olympusat’s México City office, where he oversees a division of more than 45 employees dedicated to film restoration and dubbing services.
Fernando’s responsibility is to carry on and follow through on the transformation of Spanish-language movies that are still in the traditional 16 and 35 nitate format via the technical processes of film restoration. These reels are then transformed into High Definition 2K formats. This has provided Olympusat with a numerous and diverse array of Spanish speaking movies from the “Golden Age” of Mexican cinema.
In addition, Fernando also manages the dubbing of movies, soap operas and documentaries into Spanish. This was an assignment given to Fernando by the company’s CEO, and has been a great success, thanks to the effort and hard work of the dedicated Mexico City team.
Fernando Vargas is a graduate from Full Sail University in Cinematographic Production. He also has a degree in Communication Sciences/Journalism from the San Antonio Abad del Cusco University in Perú. He is also an active member of the National Journalists Association in Perú, the ANP.
Shawn Copenhaver is the Director of Creative Services and is responsible for the on-air branding elements for all of Olympusat’s owned and operated TV networks. In addition, Shawn oversees all studio and original productions for Olympusat and is a key on-air liaison between Olympusat’s uplink facilities. Prior to Olympusat, Shawn spent over four years with Palm Beach County’s Solid Waste Authority as a cameraman, editor and director for the award-winning show, eTV (Environmental Television). He was also a part of production teams throughout the environmental industry, which have consistently won Emmy, Telly, Aurora and Addy Awards.
Prior to eTV Shawn spent four years in cable production with Comcast, Baltimore and Adelphia, West Palm Beach shooting, editing, and managing digital commercial insertion of local cable television advertising. Shawn is a television production graduate of The Broadcasting Institute of Maryland. He is currently writing, producing and directing original movies and series for Olympusat’s multiple Spanish-language networks.
James Hughes is Senior Director of Engineering for Olympusat Telecom. James’s career is an example of “driving digital to the home.” James has over 25 years of experience in designing and shipping consumer electronics for telecom applications. He has held positions in design engineering, systems engineering, and sales support. James has worked for major companies such as IBM, National Semiconductor, Freescale Semiconductor, and Motorola. At Motorola James and his team architected the IC platforms for all Motorola’s 3G and 4G phones. He holds 16 U.S. Patents in hardware and software products. His products have produced well over $5 billion in revenue.
James has worked in three startup situations and has successfully brought new designs to market with the help of engineering teams he assembled and managed. Recently, he has worked on architecting an OTT cable market product which has brought early adoption of “live streaming” concert venues to the home.
James earned an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Miami and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Ricardo has over 15 years of combined experience in the Advertising and Television Industries. Expert on Integrated Sales, Sales Development and opening markets for multi-platform media properties including new media. Ricardo was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He moved to the United States in 1996 to work as a TV Executive. He started his career at Ted Bates Advertising as a Production Director of TV and Radio. He also worked as a TV producer and director for RCTV, producing special TV shows for many popular artists. Prior to joining Olympusat, Ricardo was a Regional Sales Manager for Liberman Broadcasting/Estrella TV based in New York City.
Maria Lourdes Aguirre leads the operations for the new TV Everywhere solution VEMOXTM, and services related with Linear Channels ingestion and VOD content storage & transcoding services at Olympusat Telecom. She has successfully executed a variety of projects related to voice, data & multimedia solutions. Her experience spans over 20 years encompassing design, deployment, and project management of complex Networks which has allowed her to collaborate with top level telecom corporations such as Televisa and Nortel Networks all around the Caribbean, and Latin American countries in addition to North America. Maria Lourdes holds a degree in Electric & Telecommunications Engineering from UNAM, National University of Mexico.
Juan Bruno is the Director of New Programming Acquisitions & Contracts for Olympusat’s Spanish Language Networks. Prior to this, Juan held the position of Operations Manager and was equally involved in the day-to-day operations of new content and contract management for all Spanish Language networks, along with being key support in additional areas of the company. He joined Olympusat in 2007, and has been directly involved with all network operations, including programming & scheduling, for Olympusat’s top networks, Cine Mexicano and Gran Cine. Juan Bruno currently holds a BA degree in Business Economics and Administration from CCNY.
Valerie Ford is the Director of Human Resources for Olympusat. She is an accomplished HR Professional with over 17 years of experience in Human Resources management and is responsible for directing, planning and implementation of all Human Resources functions including, but not limited to, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training & development, rewards & recognition, workers compensation, unemployment and organizational development.
Prior to joining Olympusat, Ms. Ford served as Talent Acquisition Business Partner at One Blood (a non-profit innovative blood center) where she played a key role in the HR integration team to establish a new consolidated HR department. During her tenure, she partnered with leadership and department managers to establish the company’s competency model and behavioral profiles for various positions to be more effective in performance management and hiring practices. Prior to One Blood, Ms. Ford spent several years delivering consulting and outsourced human resources services to small to mid-sized businesses.
Ms. Ford holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (B.B.A) with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Strayer University. She’s a certified Predictive Index Analyst and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Xi Pi Omega Chapter.
Print and broadcast entertainment journalism have allowed Jesús Oswaldo Piñango to integrate himself into the Hispanic TV content field from the start of his professional career. Understanding the Spanish- speaking audience’s interest for engaging and relevant news led Jesus to serve as TV Producer and Reporter covering and introducing multicultural content from Europe and the States through Latin-American. As Director of TV Content Strategy, he directs and coordinates activities of networks content and provide a constructive analysis, delivering valuables insights, captivating perspective, and a spot-on description to make the concept pitch-perfect.
Moises Sananes is the Director of On-Air Promotions and Spanish-language Networks, and is in charge of directing and monitoring Olympusat’s Spanish-language owned and operated channels to ensure they run properly. He is also responsible for the ideation, production, and placement of on-air promotions for Olympusat’s networks, which includes campaigns and programming stunts.
Moises has over 19 years of experience in the entertainment industry including newspapers, magazines, radio, movies, and television.
Over the past 11 years, Moises has helped launched networks in the U.S. such as Cine Mexicano, Gran Cine, Tele N, Cuba Play, Sorpresa, Cine Clásico, DAMAS TV, Aplauso TV, and Televen América.
Moises is a graduate from the Universidad Central de Venezuela where he obtained a B.A. in Journalism. He also received a Master's Degree in Broadcasting and Communications from Barry University in Florida.
In 2003, Moises published a book “The Speech of the Israelite World” a 300 page research piece on the Jewish immigration to Latin America after the Holocaust.
Manuel “Manny” Saldivar has been working for Olympusat Inc. as its Acquisitions Executive for Cine Mexicano since 2014. He acquires a diverse library of new films for Cine Mexicano, and works with Joshua Castillo on original productions for Cine Mexicano. Along with his duties of acquisitions, Manny is key and he’s involved in obtaining interviews from actors, singers, and comedians that are very familiar to the Cine Mexicano Audience, and works alongside the Marketing Department of Olympusat as well.
Prior to working for Olympusat Inc., Manny Saldivar was an agent for independent Mexican producers based in the United States and Mexico, in where he represented over 90 films during his 9-year agent career. Manuel Saldivar has produced 12 Feature Films for the U.S. Latino Market and produced television shows for Los Angeles Latino market. From 2003 to 2007 Manny Saldivar was head of Latino Acquisition for Vanguard Cinema, acquiring films for distribution in Walmart, Hollywood Video, Blockbuster Video, and Tower Music.
Manuel “Manny” Saldivar was the co-founder, and programmer of the Orange County Latino Film festival, in Orange County, California from 2004-2006 working with established Latin American Directors, Producers, and Distributors. He graduated from East Los Angeles College with an associate’s degree before heading to U.C.L.A.
In his free time Manuel “Manny” Saldivar enjoys watching movies, surfing, and he’s an umpire for a little baseball league in San Diego.
