The media company made a deal with the Canal + company for the launch of five international live channels on its OTT TV Everywhere app, VEMOX. The new additions provide the Hispanic audience with more content and entertainment options.
Yeshuah Castillo pitched Ultra Clásico, a Spanish language channel that includes over 350 digitally-restored classics of Mexican cinema. “Our CEO had a vision of bringing classic films back to life,” said Castillo. The films were restored “in a very tedious process we’re very proud of.”
As part of its efforts to support Spanish-langue films and international cinema, Olympusat will highlight the importance of producing Spanish-language content that caters to the growing Hispanic population in the United States.
More Channels, better quality and addressing niche markets might also provide the incentive for more U.S. Hispanic households to subscribe to Spanish-language programming tiers, where many of the networks reside.
Verizon FiOS TV has become the country’s leading television provider of Spanish-language channels, announcing on Monday (June 4) the launch of 10 new Spanish-language channels in high definition. Verizon now offers up to 75 Spanish-language channels on FiOS TV, dependent on the local channels available in each market. Nine of the 10 new Spanish-language HD channels are provided by Olympusat Inc., a leading independent distributor of Hispanic content in the United States.
